The earliest idea - Bundy Shoe Lights

The Bundy Shoe Lights is an invention created by Al Bundy.

I don't know how many of you watched the long running comedy series that featured a poor working family living in Chicago where the bread winner Al Bundy worked for his post high school life in a shoe store. It is seen in the season 3 episode,  he put what looked like a cobbled together mess of car headlights, and a large battery duct taped to a pair of shoes. He called his invention shoe lights and did an informercial but got no sales as the invention was considered foolish and impractical.

Background

The idea came to Al after taking out the trash in the dark with no light, causing him trip and fall. After some time in the basement, he shows Peggy, Bud and The Rhoades his new invention, using Kelly as his model. Despite the flaw in Al's logic, as Marcy and Peggy point out, he insists his device will sell and bring them millions.

At the shoe convention, he unveils his shoe lights in the hope of selling them and moving up in popularity. Unfortunately, Kelly walks into a coin fountain, electrocuting her, creating a fire hazard and shattering Al's dream of fame and fortune.

Components

• A camping backpack with a strap running across the chest
• A car battery attached to the backpack via several bungee cords
• Two small headlights mounted to a pair of boots
• Jumper cables to connect the battery to the headlights.

Fact forward to today by a few decades and shoe lights are a reality at least for Croc shoe wearers. Crocs have holes that people customize with iconic figures and objects. These "shoe lights" plug into the holes and can be adjusted to point ahead or upward or downward to light the way ahead in the dark. They do work. Powerful high beam, fair low beam, and an SOS mode you might use when changing a flat at night. Walking around the house, or outside at night they may prevent a fall or help find where you dropped your keys or wallet.

It comes with a single USB A to C cable so you have to charge them one at a time. If you have another A to C cable you can do both. It did not come with a transformer so you'll have to use the one with your phone or another USB A source outlet. 200 mAh is not a large power source, and on high the light will go dim in a few hours, but much longer on low. They charge up pretty quick though. Three light modes the first press is bright, the second low, the third is SOS flashing and then back to off. These are waterproof with a sealed control button and a silicon cover over the USB C charging port. Recommended, but you need Crocs shoes unless you want to punch a hole in top of your current type of shoes.
